What is Marketing Things ?

Hi, my name is Bryan and I’m the person behind Marketing Things. This newsletter started as an internal weekly marketing links roundup I wanted to share with my colleagues.

As marketers we sometimes fall in the trap of becoming obsessed with tactics and we forget what made us fall in love with marketing in the first place.

With this publication I aim to share links that help me remember that marketing can be funny, thought-provoking, awe-inspiring, powerful or just interesting. They’ve helped me in a way. I hope they can inspire you too. ⭐

On Twitter someone recently said that recently we’ve been too focused on the science of marketing rather than the art of marketing. I’ll try to showcase this art in this publication. But keep in mind that the art of marketing is like any other form of art: sometimes you might like it, other times you won’t.

You probably won’t get any actionable tidbits from this newsletter but you’ll have some inspiration fuel and a bit of reading to keep you going until the next post.

Best,
Bryan

Who is Bryan ?

Hi there 👋

My name is Bryan. I fell in love with marketing when I was about 14 years old (when I bought my first copy of Marketing Management).
Since then I’ve tried to explore as many areas of marketing as I could by studying marketing, freelancing in marketing, and working as a marketer.

My most recent experience is working as a Growth Marketer for the French fintech Shine for the past 2 years. Shine tries to do marketing a bit differently than other companies by having the utmost respect for our visitors/leads/users.

There I deal with the following topics:

  • Help the marketing team work with the tech team and vice-versa

  • Project manage cross functional projects

  • Make sure we don’t forget brand topics when we work on performance topics and vice-versa

Online you can find me on Twitter, on my website, and on Linkedin.
